The strange organism that is English cricket.

English cricket is a strange organism. Administrators, players, media all break asunder and then reform into a mutual back-slapping society again. Writers who condemned players suddenly find they are their best friends again. Coaches who were sacked for failure become "special advisors" to the people who replaced them. Men who cataclysmically failed as Captains re-emerge spouting platitudes about "people feeling comfortable enough to express themselves the way they want." Administrators blame their best player and abandon him as a scapegoat. And really good cricket writers don't even mention the KP "Elephant in the room" presumably because they are forbidden from doing do. And so we bollock on, hiding our manifest failings, rewarding failure with sinecures and hoping that something will come up.
